From a Photo on the Wall to a Home for Pilgrims: Our Journey
In 2019, while visiting Pepa’s mother in Venezuela, Pepe noticed a familiar image hanging on her living room wall: the majestic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. In a moment of lighthearted spontaneity, Pepa asked if he’d ever want to walk the Camino with her. Pepe’s answer was immediate, but with one condition: it had to be a Camino de verdad—the full 800-kilometer trek.
That conversation sparked a journey that couldn’t be stopped, even by a global pandemic. Though our 2020 plans were delayed, we finally set out in 2022, completing the Camino del Norte, followed by the Camino Portugués in 2023 and the Camino Francés in 2024.
After seeing how much the Camino transformed our lives, we felt a deep calling to give back to the pilgrim community. Combining Pepe’s expertise in business and IT with Pepa’s background in healthcare, arts, and hospitality, we decided to open our own albergue. We are so happy to welcome you to the next chapter of our story.
A sanctuary of rest without bunkbeds
Albergue Pepe y Pepa prides itself on having no bunk beds! Everyone is on the same level, the way we like it. We want every guest—whether they are young or elderly—to feel comfortable. That means we only offer single beds.
We try to respect each person’s privacy as much as possible by putting screens between the beds.
Lockers are provided so you can store your valuables.

We at Albergue Pepe y Pepa would love for our guests to have a memorable experience. And what makes better memories than sharing a dinner together? Most nights we provide a dinner for a small donativo to help us with the cost for the next meal. On the days we don’t provide dinner, we encourage you to cook together and have a nice meal to share. We have plenty of menu suggestions that can aid you when needed.
